Description

"For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works. These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee." Titus 2:11-15

"Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work, To speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." Titus 3:1-7

[0:00] Turn your Bibles to the New Testament the book of Titus Titus in chapter 2 Titus is a short little book It's Not quite as short as Philemon which follows Titus which is only one chapter long but Titus has only got three chapters There's a whole lot in the book of Titus. We're not going to cover all that this morning needless to say but Starting at the beginning of Titus chapter 2 we see Instructions that Paul is giving to Titus Titus being a young pastor church and creed and He's giving he's giving Titus instruction as far as

[1:03] The men of the church go as far as the ladies of the church go as far as servants a servant master relationship Go we find all this in the beginning of or in the beginning verses of Titus chapter 2 and About about two-thirds three-quarters of the way through the second chapter of Titus Which is where we'll begin our reading this morning Paul Paul begins one of the clearest Dissertations and Examples of what the gospel really is and that's something that we we all We all could use daily, you know, I daily need to be reminded of the gospel I appreciate the gospel Appreciate God for saving my soul. I appreciate the good news that that although I'm a sinner that God and his grace and his mercy and his compassion Still look down and save my soul but again beginning

[2:06] Here in the letter section of Titus and chapter 2 on into Titus chapter 3 We found one of the clearest examples in scripture of what the gospel is so all that being said in Titus chapter 2 We'll start reading at verse 11 Says for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men Teaching us that deny ungodliness and worldly lust we should live soberly Righteously and godly in this present world Looking for that blessed hope in the glorious appearing of the great God and our Savior Jesus Christ Who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people Zalas of good works these these things speak and Exort and rebuke with all authority let no man despise thee Then Titus and three starting at verse one put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers to obey magistrates

[3:15] To be ready to every good work To speak evil of no man to be no brawlers, but gentle showing all meekness unto all men For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish disobedient deceived serving diverse lusts and pleasures Living in malice and envy hateful and hating one another But after that the kindness and love of God our Savior toward man Appeared not by works of righteousness which we have done but according to his mercy He saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior that being justified by his grace We should be heirs according to the hope of eternal life We'll stop reading right there. We'll go back to Titus and verse or chapter 2 and verse 11 It says for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men teaching in that denying

[4:21] Ungodliness and worldly lust we should live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. So so Paul here Reiterating to Titus Titus being again a pastor a very young pastor in a church in the land of Crete He would have already known this he would have already been exposed To this information because he was a pastor. He was saved. He was leading the people. He was teaching the people The things of God and the gospel of God So this would have been a Reiteration that Paul was giving to Titus here when he says that the grace of God bringeth salvation That bring his salvation hath appeared to all men. Now, this is very important here as far as Some folks theology versus other folks theology and some folks doctrine versus other folks doctrine folks What what I might think personally as far as theology and doctrine goes must line up

[5:23] With the word of God and the word of God here very plainly Intimates and conveys to us that the grace of God has appeared unto all men if it has appeared unto all men it is therefore available To all men it has appeared to all men in the form of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ being the personification Of the grace of God we all know the account the Christmas account of when Jesus Christ was born of a virgin He was born in a stable and in a manger there in the town of Bethlehem That was the grace of God laying there in that in that manger in Bethlehem But not only the birth of Jesus Christ. It's in the life of Jesus Christ It's in the death of Jesus Christ and the resurrection of Jesus Christ and the ascension of Jesus Christ to the father To forever make intercession on behalf of all those that have repented of their sins and Believe in the gospel of Jesus Christ all of these things are because of the grace of Almighty God

[6:29] The grace of God is the reason that we're sitting here in this place today If you're saved and you're a born-again Christian, it's because of the grace of God. It's of no merit of our own It's not because of anything that we have done Or anything that we could do is because of the finished work of Jesus Christ That you and I are able to receive the grace of God and we are able to receive Salvation from Almighty God. It is his grace. It is his grace alone that is able to save us We are washed by the blood of Jesus Christ We are washed in the regenerating process that we read in Titus 3 just a little while ago Yes, but it is all of grace our salvation is of grace the fact that God sought us out was of grace The fact that God keeps us after salvation is of grace and it is by grace as we sing in the old hymn Amazing grace and it's by grace that we will get home one day after a while

[7:30] It is all because of the grace of God don't let yourself think that you have done something to merit salvation It is none of our works It is because of the finished work of Jesus Christ that we are able to have the grace and salvation of God Hallelujah, hallelujah for the grace of God for the grace of God that bring us salvation have appeared to all men Teaching us this this brings us to a whole other section here The grace of God has appeared unto all men and the grace of God not only has the power to save but the grace of God Also teaches us some things that tithless talks about here teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldliness We should live soberly, rociously and godly in this present world It is the grace of God that teaches us these things before I was saved and before you were saved We were nothing more than rebellious sinners against God. We had no thought for the things of God

[8:31] We had no want for the things of God We had no want for the church or the word of God or the hymns of God or the songs of time or anything Yes, but because of the grace of God We are told that these things that we are to live soberly We are to live rociously we're to live holy and upright and just in the eyes of God And in the eyes of this world in which we live in this present world as paul rocestatus here The world in which we now live we are to live these ways and we are to live holy We're to live rocious. We're to live sanctified set apart for the service of almighty god We are to be a lot. We are to be a city that is set on a hill We're not this hot ourselves or our salvation or our religion under a bushel We are to let it shine for all those in the house to see for all those in this world to see We are to live his life in this world in this present world. We all know the scripture We're in the world, but we are not of the world. That's from

[9:36] That's from the great high priestly prayer that jesus christ prayed and john In chapter 17. We are not we are in this world, but we are not of the world We can we live in this world just as jesus christ lived in this world He preached in this world. He taught in this world He rebuked men in this world and then he died in this world But he died for the salvation of sinners He died for you and he died for me jesus said himself He came to seek and to say that which was lost. He said I came not to call the righteous But sinners to repentance paul said in first timothy in verse Chapter one of verse 15. He said this is a faithful saying and worthy of all Acceptation that christ jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom i am chief paul calling himself the chief of sinners But the grace of god came to paul the grace of god came to me It came to you it came to peter it came to john

[10:36] It came to everyone and it comes to everyone that comes to god with faith and repentance Hallelujah for the grace of god and it teaches us these things It teaches us how to live soberly and to live rightfully and when it says soberly it's not just talking about living Outside of the effects of alcohol. That's not what we're getting out here. It's saying to to live Ready to to to live with with their conscience ready To serve god and to do god and to be holy and to show the light of god in this world in which we live Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great god and our savior Jesus christ, this is something else that the grace of god teaches us to do It not only saves the grace of god saves and not only teaches us to live holy and to live rightfully in this present world But it also teaches us to look for this blessed hope that we have in the coming of our god and our savior

[11:38] Jesus christ the grace of god teaches us to look for this thing folks This is the blessed hope that we have as paul also wrote to the church at theselinaca He said when the trump of god shall sound and the dead and cross shall rise and those of us which are alive and remain Shall shall shall join him in the clouds We shall meet him in the clouds to forever be with our lord and our savior jesus christ This is the blessed hope that we had that this world this present world We lived in the previous that we live in in the previous first This is not the only world that is to come we're just like haberham that was looking for a city Whose maker was god. He was looking for a city that was not built by the hands of man If we are looking for that city we are looking for a day that is promised on us in the scripture Where there will be no more weeping there will be no more crying there'll be no more sickness There'll be no more death and we will forever be with jesus christ who is the lot of that city hallelujah i'll know about you all

[12:43] I get excited when i think about that stuff I get excited that i was once a rebellious center that i once hated god and hated everything about god and he's still In his mercy and compassion reached down and saved my soul That's enough That's enough to make anybody shout and get excited verse 14 Who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people's Ailus of good works. He gave himself for us cross gave Himself for us and the blessed hope that we have is that he who gave himself for us is coming back to get us One day after a while. I don't care if your if your theology is pre meal A meal or post meal post effects still remains in the scripture back to the time and time again that christ Is coming so many people in the book of revelation They want to pay attention They want to pay so much attention to the plagues and to the vows and to the and to the wrath of god

[13:48] To all these things that are going on in those 22 chapters at the end of our bible But folks there is one central message to the book of revelation and that message is that jesus is coming back He is coming back for his bride. He is coming back To fully redeem those which have been bought by his blood hallelujah, who gave himself for us The one that gave himself for us that is forever sitting there Mediating between god and man for the bible says there is one that is able to mediate between god and man That is the man cross jesus the one who gave himself for me Paul said in galatians in 220 He said he said i'm crucified with cross nevertheless I live across live within me in the life that i now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the son of god who loved me and gave himself for me cross gave himself for you Not because you were deserving and not because i was deserving but because they fulfilled the will of almighty god

[14:52] And because that was the cross that must be repaid to redeem rebel sinners back to their maker hallelujah hallelujah folks we got to get a grasp on the gospel the gospel is more than just the death of burry on the resurrection Of jesus cross i understand first correntians 15 And i understand that that can be the gospel in a real top condensed nutshell But there is so much more to that gospel. We must understand that we are undeserving of it We must understand that we done nothing to merit it We must understand that christ did nothing to deserve your punishment and my punishment He didn't deserve this encouraging. He didn't deserve the beating. He didn't deserve the mockery He didn't deserve his own people the jews the high priest and the chief priest to spit upon him Nor did he deserve for the roman soldiers to beat and to mock and to spit upon him He didn't deserve to have the crown of thorns placed upon his head He didn't deserve that to carry that cross all the way up to the hill of god goth

[15:54] He didn't deserve to be now there and he didn't deserve to die That was your punishment and that was my punishment And until we grasp that we will not appreciate the gospel of jesus christ It was my punishment that he took upon Himself the bible says he that knew no sin became sin for us. He knew no sin He knew no sin Yes, he became sin for me And he became sin for you who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all Iniquity not from just a little bit of our iniquity That he might redeem us from all iniquity. He might redeem us from all of our transgressions from every time we ever went against the laws of god Christ came to redeem us from that Everybody loves john 3 16 Everybody loves that verse and everybody can quote that verse But what about the rest of what jesus says there?

[16:56] I came not to condemn the world but that the world through him talking about the son of man talking about himself The son of man came not to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved But then christ goes on to say this is the condemnation that men love darkness rather than light Men love darkness rather than light. I love darkness rather than light before I was saved But since I've been saved I've been taught by grace and I've been taught by the holy spirit of god That I to live soberly and to live righteously in this present world in which I live And to give my life holy and completely over to god These are the things that grace teaches us And grace teaches us that christ gave himself for us They my redeem us from all iniquity and purify on themselves a peculiar people Zealous of good works. We're to be a peculiar people, but folks we do not make ourselves peculiar Christ makes us peculiar the holy spirit of god makes us peculiar and in this context grace makes us

[18:03] Peculiar the grace of god does this there's too many people out there namely in the charismatic movement But there's too many people out there that try and make themselves set apart They try and make themselves peculiar they try and make themselves stand out in the crowd folks if you live holy and Rocketsly I promise you you will stand out in the crowd. It doesn't take you performing miracles It doesn't take you speaking in tongues. It doesn't take you Performing miracles in front of dozens or hundreds or thousands of people All it takes is for you to live differently than what the world lives in than how the world lives And we should be zealous of good works the grace of god teaches us that We should be zealous. We should be anxious to do good works What kind of good works not and and and and just to add on top of that those good works aren't to earn salvation Salvation has been earned by none other than jesus christ for all those that repent and believe the gospel

[19:05] We're zealous to good works because of salvation Because we've been redeemed because we've received grace Because we're being taught these things. We are zealous under good works. We are anxious to do good works James says in james in chapter two that faith without works is dead He goes on to say shoot me that faith without that works. I'll shoot you my faith by my works Our faith is exhibited to the world in our works not to be saved but because we are saved But faith without works is dead Being alone and works without faith quite frankly is dead being alone. They intermingle wonderfully there verse 15 these things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority let no man Despise thee now again The reason this is here is not only for for us to read 2000 years after the fact But it's because in this letter paul was giving instruction to tithes who was a young Young pastor at a church

[20:08] At the cretion church, so he tells them these things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority let no man Despise thee there's there's this huge debate out in the theological realm And it's a debate amongst commentators and preachers and teachers of the word of god Whether verse 15 should be at the end of chapter two or whether it should be at the beginning of chapter three I say it really don't matter because it all falls in succession anyway It doesn't matter folks when this was written in the original greek. There was no punctuation There was no chapter division and there were no verse numbers in this it doesn't matter If it belongs at the end of chapter two or at the beginning of chapter three It doesn't matter one bit. I'm just telling you that in case your study bibles that you might have at home Or any commentaries that you might have get into that folks. It doesn't matter. It's all the word of god It is all the word of god But he is instructing tithes here these things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority let no man despise thee Says let no man despise thee Don't you let any man because tithes was such a young pastor?

[21:11] paul here was giving him The warning he says you teach these things with authority you teach these things because they are true You teach the gospel of jesus christ you teach that grace That grace the grace of god was freely given Under man that the grace of god appeared into all men and that the grace of god is able to save even the most Wretched of sinners you teach these things with all authority because it is the way and the will of god I praise god that peter wrote not his will that any should perish but that all should come to repentance It's not god's will that any should perish god doesn't want any one of us to perish or anyone out here in the world To perish the bible says that god gets no pleasure in the death of the wicked hallelujah, that's the kind of type of god that save me That's the type of god that is keeping me and that's the god that i serve Is a god that doesn't will that any should perish that doesn't mean that folks won't perish we read about those

[22:13] Throughout the the scriptures, but we're we won't get into that this morning verse or chapter three and verse one Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers to obey magistrates To be ready to every good work to speak evil of no man to be no brawlers But gentle showing all meekness unto man So if we couple this With the last verse of chapter two these things speak and exhort and rebuke with all authority Let no man despise thee and we go on into chapter three what we just read put them in mind To be subject to principalities and powers and obey magistrates To be ready to every good work and so on on into verse two there it does flow Very congruently from the end of chapter two on into the beginning of chapter three But once again, don't let yourself get called up in the nonsense of where Verse 15 of chapter two belongs it doesn't matter because it all flows

[23:16] It all flows fluidly in the scripture But put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers and obey magistrates to be ready to every good work folks Here is paul instructing titus to put them in mind put these men in mind to put this man He says let no man despise thee there at the end of chapter two He said put them in mind to be subject under the magistrates to be subject to the principalities to the powers that be and folks We are given the exact same commandments in scripture. We read about it here. We read about in romans 13 We read about it all throughout the scriptures that we are to be in subjection to the powers That be in this world as long as it does not go against the commands of god and as long as it does not go against The the the will and the laws of almighty god I've used the example several times in the past that i'm to obey the laws of the land I'm to obey the laws that are put forth unless it goes against the laws of almighty god If i'm instructed that i need to go out here and murder someone in order to obey the law of the land

[24:20] That completely goes against the laws of almighty god and i do not have to follow that law Just just as the apostle said in the book of acts better to obey god rather than man Better to obey god rather than man Folks we're to be in subjection to the to the laws that are set forth doesn't mean we have to lock them But does mean we have to abide by them as long as it does not go against the word Of almighty god. I stand strongly against abortion. Why because it's murder murder is against the law of god I don't care what state says what I don't care what supreme court says what I don't care what world government says about it Abortion is murder plain and simple and I will not stand for it. I will not I will not just sit back while it happens I will raise my voice and let it be known that it is wrong in the eyes of god As well as some other laws that we Won't get into right now

[25:20] To speak evil of no man to be no brawlers But generals showing all meekness unto all men to speak evil no man again. He's he's continuing to tell him starting Titus 2 and 15 Where he says let no man despise the he's continuing to tell Titus how to address these people how to address These men that he's speaking of here to speak evil of no man to be no brawlers, but general showing all meekness unto all men All meekness. What is meekness meekness most often is defined as as humility or to be humble That can be a definition of it, but folks there's only two people in all scripture. That's good. That that is Has the word meekness applied to them one of those is moses and the old testament and the other one is jesus christ and the new testament so In order for meekness to only mean humility and for to only mean humbleness and to only mean lowliness

[26:22] Folks that doesn't that applies to jesus christ. Yes Yes, we just sung not long ago before service got started about the lowliness of christ And there's other songs in that hymn that speak of the lowliness of christ There are scriptures that speak about that but folks christ is also powerful so it cannot mean just humility and just lowliness The best definition for meekness Is power that is held back Moses had power with god did he none Moses moses spoke with god there in the burning bush moses went up on top of mount sinai and spoke with god As the scripture says as a man would do his friend face to face So there is power as well as lowliness and meekness But but meekness talks about power that is held back power that is held back and The greek word that is that is actually used there speaking of war horses

[27:24] War horses that were gone up in people would go up into the mountains They would get these wild horses and they would bring them down and they would tame them To be part of the king's army And and go into battle and go into war But they still had that wild side to him had to be tamed It was it was reserved power his power that was held back But it could be unleashed at any time jesus christ is a prime example of that Jesus Christ when they came to the garden of Gethsemane and they arrested him Peter smoked off the chief chief priest servants here And and they arrested jesus christ. They took him to the palace. They took him to annas They took him to coffees both of them sent him on the punches pilot Jesus christ had the power then to put an end to everything before it even began But it was power that was being held back. That's meekness That's meekness We should all have a spirit of meekness

[28:25] About us moses again moses was described as being meek in fact the bible says moses was more meek than any man in the earth at that time But moses and jesus are the only two people in scripture that are described as being meek verse three Entitled three for we ourselves also were sometimes foolish disobedient to see serving diverse lusts and pleasures living in malice And envy hateful and hating one another folks This is a real condensed version of what you and I were before the grace of god ever entered into our lives Every one of us were in this shape for we ourselves also were praise god that that's in the past tense We ourselves were sometimes Foolish disobedient to see serving diverse lusts and pleasures Living in malice and envy hateful and hating one another. We were disobedient the bible describes us as children of disobedient

[29:27] One of paul's other letters. It says that we are by nature the children of wrath We were disobedient just like children are disobedient sometimes to their parents. We were disobedient to our maker disobedience Deceived folks we deceived we couldn't Understand the gospel We had no desire to understand the gospel and we were deceived by the world We were deceived by satan and his little minions and worse than any of those we were self deceived Some of us were deceived into thinking we were all right when we were when we were on our ways to hell I've talked to more than one born again christian It says for for 10 or 20 or 30 years. What if the case was I went to church I knew the bible backwards and forwards. I sung the songs of zine. I shook the preacher's hand. I Manned the preacher But I was still lost and it took the grace of god It took the grace of god to god himself coming to where I was and showing me my state

[30:33] And then saving my soul They were deceived And just like the rest of the world right now is deceived serving diverse lust and pleasures This is basically saying being a slave to sin and being a slave to self Hope there is only two ways to go through this life We are either a slave to sin and a slave to the devil and a slave to hell itself Or we are a slave to christ I praise god that i'm a slave to christ But he made me that way He made me that way I'm a slave to christ, but here paul is describing how we were We were in diverse lust and pleasures living in malice and envy being hateful Just plain out hateful but living in malice and envy we were full of jealousy everything that somebody else had We wanted it and we didn't care whose head we had to step on Or whose nose we had to break to get to it

[31:34] We were in envy And malice hateful and hating one another folks. That's the culmination of every bit of this Every bit of the deception Every bit of the being deceived every bit of the envy Every bit everything that he is written here in this verse the culmination of it is hating one another I hated my neighbor before I got saved I hated most of the folks around me and the folks I didn't hate I didn't like real well I hated and that's all I had in me but now Now since the grace of god that we began reading about in tithes 2 and 11 Since the grace of god has appeared and all men and has made itself available to me in jesus christ Since that grace has entered in and the holy spirit has taught me I have nothing but love toward my neighbor. I don't care if they're black. I don't care if they're white

[32:37] Jewish christian. I don't care. I love them And I want them all to go to heaven with me. I want them all to be saved by the grace of god I want them all to experience this grace that we've been talking about here this morning But after that the kindness and love of god our savior toward man man appeared not my works of righteousness Which we have done but according to his mercy. He saved us by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the holy ghost But after that the kindness now remember this is the previous verse. He's talking about how we were Past tense he says but after that the kindness and love of god our savior toward man Appeared it appeared to us the grace and the kindness and the love of god and the love of our savior It appeared not my works of righteousness. This is what the church needs to dress the hold of it is not our works of R righteousness. It is not how many hungry mouths we feed It is not how many naked bodies we clothe and it's certainly not how much money we put in the coffer

[33:44] Every sunday morning it is by and through god almighty and jesus christ that we are saved And that we can be born again Hope so there's a lot of a lot of issues I have with the reformation movement With the reform church movement. There's a lot of issues I have with that but something I can 100 agree with them 100% is that salvation is by grace alone Through faith alone and Christ alone per the scripture alone to the glory of god alone I have nothing to do nor have I ever had anything to do with nor will I ever have anything to do with my Salvation god give that to me god gifted that to me in jesus christ I'm saved by god. I am kept by god and I will be taken home one day by god It is not by my works of righteousness My righteousness is ours filthy rags and the eyes of god

[34:48] According to what we read in the book of isaiah. It's not just my righteousness there in isaiah. That's plural of Ritem's is our filthy rags three times in scripture Is righteousness plural and all three times it's talking about the righteousness of man Not the righteousness of god every time you read about the righteousness of god It's singular because there is but one righteousness and that is god God is righteous and jesus christ is righteous Anyway, that was just a little side note. No not by works of righteousness, which we have done But according to his mercy, he saved us by the washing of regeneration and the renewing Of the holy ghost. We are washed in the regenerating process folks. This should Immediately take your mind back to to john chapter three. I know we've already been there once this morning Then john chapter three jesus christ is having a conversation with this

[35:49] Pharisee named nicodemus. He's actually preaching the word of god to Nicodemus and john chapter three, but two times he tells nicodemus He must be born again He says it to him once that he must be born again. Nicodemus says how is it that a man could be born again?

[36:06] Can he go into his mother's womb? To have this accomplished and jesus tells nicodemus Marvel not that I said under you He must be born again folks. There is no other way under salvation. It is not by water baptism It is not by good works It is not by any of these things it is by the spirit of god doing a Regenerating work in the heart and soul of man It is by god taking out the stony heart that he talks about in his aekiel and putting in the heart of flesh Something soft something multiple that he can work with It is spiritually by god Just like in the old testament and in the new testament when it talks about the circumcision of the heart That is impossible for man to do only god can do that only god Can can produce a rebirth It's like the old saying goes If a man is born twice, he only dies once

[37:07] But if a man's born once He don't he dies twice He'll die physically in this world And he will die forever and forever and forever and over and over and over again in eternity Folks hell is described many different ways in the scripture. It's described as a bottomless pit It's described as a place of outer darkness. It's described as a place of weeping and wailing of gnashing teeth It's described as a place with creatures in the book of revelation It's described as a place the lake of fire is described as so many different things in the scripture that a bottomless pit And that is where man will suffer the second death and that death will not end It will continue on and on and on but praise god If i'm born twice in this life If i've had the physical birth and the spiritual birth that only god can accomplish I will only die once and that's with this physical body The bible says in roman 6 and 23 for the wages of sin is death

[38:09] But the gift of god is eternal life through jesus christ our lord The wages of sin is death when you die and when i die we are getting nothing more than what we have earned God is giving us what he has promised in his scripture to pay But i praise god that in the old testament god tells his plan of how he planned Of his of his idea to abolish death and get rid of death and in the new testament in jesus christ We are shown how god accomplished that Jesus said i'm he that liveth and was dead and behold i'm alive forever meant more amen and hold the keys of hell And of death revelation one in 18 He's alive forever more and he holds the keys of hell and of death Hallelujah to my savior hallelujah to jesus christ verse 6 in titus 3 which he shed on us abundantly through jesus christ our savior What did he shed on us if you go back to verse five verse five?

[39:09] He says but according to his mercy He saved us this mercy was shed on us abundantly through jesus christ our savior And folks there is no mercy more abundant than what what comes from jesus christ It's all we need folks. He is the only sacrifice That is available for salvation and he is the only sacrifice that is needed for salvation Jesus christ is it He is the final word of god god who is under time and in diverse matters Has been the past spoken in us by his prophets and envisions and dreams but hasn't these last days Spoken unto us by his son jesus christ Jesus christ is the final word from god And he's the only plan from god There's many people out in the world right now said man god are tired man god god god god a condition We've we've got an arrangement the only arrangement with god is jesus christ He and he alone is the only way to receive the grace of god that being justified by his grace

[40:12] Again folks now by our own works We're not justified by our own works Paul wrote to the church in galatia There will never be a man justified by the works of the law or by the deeds of the law Not the church in galatia the church at rome he wrote that too There would never be a man justified by the deeds of the law You know what that means?

[40:36] We could try and keep the ten commandments till we're blue in the face And even if it were possible for us to keep it which it's not but even if it were it still wouldn't earn us salvation It still would not earn us salvation We are inherently evil according to the scripture the bible says there is none that seek us righteousness There is none that seek us after god no not one That includes me and that includes you it takes god to seek you It took god to save you it'll take god to keep you safe It'll take god to get you home It'll take god to give you all of eternity and the eternal life that comes with it Only he who is eternal life is able to impart eternal life again verse seven that being justified by his grace We should be heirs according to the hope Of eternal life We should be heirs being justified by his grace He has has in his willingness And in his mercy and in his compassion and in all of his wisdom

[41:39] He is chosen to do this thing for fallen man For fallen creatures such as ourselves we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life Like what paul wrote in romans and chapter 8 said we are heirs to god and join us with jesus christ What what does jesus christ own?

[42:00] He owns everything and if we are jesus christ join us we stand to inherit it all with him hallelujah The folks that ain't why i should be zealous under good works as we read in chapter 2 here I should be zealous under good works not because i stand to inherit it all with christ Not because i'm adopted into the family of god and i'm grafted in not because of those things I should be zealous under good works because of the grace of god and the grace of god teaches me these things It teaches me to be zealous under good works. I don't i'm not anxious to do good things Because i stand to inherit it all i'm anxious to do good things because god saved my soul And because god is good and everything that he does is good and people will look out They'll say what about the flooding that we had recently? What about the earthquakes that happen?

[42:50] What about the disease? What about the hospitals that are filled to the rim? What about the churches that are empty? What about all these things? Where is the goodness of god and all that? I said it in another service. I was preaching that just a couple of weeks ago folks It doesn't matter if i got one eye both eyes or no eyes That does not negate the goodness of almighty god god is good Regarding something like if i can see if i can hear if i can walk god is still good And we need to remember that We need to remember that being justified by his grace. We should be made errors according to the hope I would turn a lot folks. That's the hope that we have And that is a blessed hope within itself the blessed hopes specifically that put the Paul brought up to Titus here was the coming of jesus christ Folks that is the culmination of our Our salvation it's the culmination of our redemption is the coming of jesus christ I'm not saying that god hasn't completely saved you. I'm saying that our redemption has not been yet completed

[43:56] It hasn't the bible will back that up. It will be one day though I'm not saying god saved you a little bit this day and a little bit more in the next day and a little bit More the day after that that's referred to as a piecemeal salvation and that's heresy straight from the pits of hell When god saved me as the bible says he saved me to the uttermost Says he is able to save the uttermost and he does say to the uttermost But our redemption is not yet complete. Paul wrote about it. He said right now We look through we look in a glass darkly But sometime out in the future we're going to be able to see things more clearly And that will be at the glorious appearing of our lord and savior jesus christ That's the message for today god bless you. I appreciate your attention
